Our philosophy is based around the experience of our staff at the highest level of mountain biking. A trickle down effect applies this know-how to riders in a way that’s easy to digest. Our coaching staff are the beating heart of +3, their experience, knowledge and understanding spans all kinds of riders and their bikes. Having this familiarity with our sport is of course hugely important but we pride ourselves on the interaction of the team and their ability to deliver clear, concise information to any rider joining us.
Your coaching day with the Plus 3 team covers everything you need to progress your skills, perfect your bike’s setup and learn how to develop as a rider. Your day starts with bike/suspension setup and transitions skills development with a delicious lunch in between. Finishing off on the perfect trail and with a cuppa and cake (you’ve earned it!) waiting at the end you’ll leave with a bike tuned for you and skills to match.
Starting your day with a brew, our team walk you through how we set your suspension and tyre pressures to best fit you. We refine these settings throughout the day and feedback all adjustments on your settings card.
With your bike dialled, the group head for the trails. After warming up, the Plus 3 team focus refining your bike and suspension setup on some easy trails and simple corner sections.
As your confidence develops the Plus 3 team shift focus towards bike handling, line choice and control on different trails. We always ride within your comfort zone and we have so many trails to choose from there’s always something for everyone.
Once you’re happy with your bike setup we head down to the café at Pedal-a-Bike-Away for a delicious lunch to refuel for an afternoon enjoying the trails.
A quick spin back to the trails opens up the whole Forest of Dean network so we can develop your skills in different trail situations. Cornering is something we work on as the ability to link turns together and maintain flow really helps any rider, whatever speed they are going.
Drops, jumps, flat corners, roots, steep sections we can cover all of these on your day. We always have a 2:1 rider to coach ratio so there’s plenty of scope to break into smaller groups to tackle a specific trail feature and our pre-event questionnaire helps us tailor the day to you.
We’re here to shed light on the dark art of suspension setup.
Your Plus 3 Suspension Setup day is designed to help you get the best performance from your bike, any trail, any day. We debunk myths, explain suspension principles and make your bike run like a dream!
Brews in hand we start off by setting your fork and shock sag then adjusting tyres to get the right pressure for you.
We then look at tokens being run in your fork and shock and discuss which setup will work best. We have a stock of tokens but if you have spares in your toolbox, bring them along.
From a simple, pre-event questionnaire we discuss what you are feeling when you ride and how to best resolve any issues. Not sure what’s happening? No problem! We’ll work it out together to make sure you get the best from your bike.
Check our Suspension Setup Page to see some common issues riders feel on their bike and if you have any questions then drop us a message and we can help.
